Environmental Defense Fund (EDF) is a leading national nonprofit organization that links science, economics, law and innovative private-sector partnerships to create breakthrough solutions to the most serious environmental problems. EDF is managing CFF operations during its first few years of start-up and EDF raises capital for the Fund.
FishWise is a non-profit organization designed to improve the sustainability and financial performance of seafood retailers, distributors, and producers. Uniquely positioned between the seafood industry and marine conservation organizations, FishWise offers a range of services that create trust between seafood vendors and their customers, enabling businesses to sell more sustainable seafood, more profitably. FishWise joins business imperatives with leading ocean conservation strategies.
Pacific Community Ventures (PCV) is an innovative non-profit organization, affiliated with three for-profit investment funds, that invests financial, human and intellectual capital into traditionally underserved companies. PCV is a vital new business network that transcends barriers and communities by connecting its portfolio companies with the necessary tools and resources to spur economic growth and opportunity. PCV will provide assistance in underwriting, credit review, loan processing and loan servicing for CFF.
ShoreBank Enterprise Cascadia is a certified non-profit Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) serving urban and rural communities of the Pacific Northwest. ShoreBank Enterprise Cascadia played a critical role in developing CFF and continues to assist with credit policies, loan documents, loan servicing systems, and more.
Sustainable Fisheries Group (SFG) is an alliance that addresses the critical need for fundamental change in the management of coastal marine fisheries. The SFG seeks to foster ecological gains for fish stocks and their marine habitats while promoting the economic viability of working waterfronts along the Pacific coast of North America. The alliance is a partnership between the University of California at Santa Barbara, the Nature Conservancy, and the Environmental Defense Fund. The SFG helped develop CFF and continues to play a key advisory role.
INVESTORS
The California Ocean Protection Council (OPC) helps coordinate and improve the protection and management of California's ocean and coastal resources and implement the Governor's 'Ocean Action Plan' released in October 2004. The OPC is a strong supporter of CFF, and has invested $2 million.
The Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation is dedicated to advancing environmental conservation and cutting edge scientific research around the world, as well as helping to improve the quality of life in the San Francisco Bay Area – Gordon and Betty Moore’s home for more than 70 years. The Foundation has invested $1 million into CFF.
Private family foundations have invested an additional $2 million into CFF.
