FISHERIES BUSINESS NETWORK EVENT, SEPTEMBER 2008
The California Fisheries Fund, Environmental Defense Fund, fishermen, and other industry representatives launched the first Fisheries Business Network (FBN) event in September 2008 entitled, “Increasing the Profitability of Fishing and Fish in the 21st Century.” The purpose of the event was to:
- Provide a business networking opportunity for fishing industry leaders.
- Exchange ideas and educate attendees about new business models and economic and regulatory trends in the fishing industry.
- Identify and collaborate on opportunities and challenges in business practices and fishing regulations.
- Share information about the California Fisheries Fund and other funding sources that are available to improve fisheries and fishing businesses.
The event was a success, with over 75 fishermen, regulators, retailers, consumers, academics, and other industry professionals sharing a diverse range of perspectives and ideas.
