The California Fisheries Fund (CFF) is a revolving loan fund that supports fishing communities working to improve the sustainability of their fisheries. CFF invests in innovative projects that will lead to more stable and profitable fisheries, including management changes such as catch shares and more localized management. CFF seeks business projects undertaken by fishery organizations, ports, processors, and individual fisherman that are likely to increase stewardship and conservation, add value to fisheries, and promote long-term asset-building.

By investing in sustainable fisheries, CFF aims to achieve the following goals:

  • Promote tangible conservation benefits, including sustainable fishing, reduced bycatch where applicable, and improved monitoring, enforcement, and data collection.
  • Promote tangible community benefits as defined by fishing organizations, ports, and other community-based groups.
  • Sustain a revolving pool of funds for future investments.
